Startup India Assam Benefits

The Assam Government has a vision for creating a culture of entrepreneurship by empowering the youth to become job creators and thus turn Assam into the leading startup hub of India by 2020. And hence the Startup India Assam scheme was brought into function.

Benefits Of Startup India Policy Of Assam

The government of Assam has established an incubator program with IIM Calcutta as an operating partner which would provide various facilities to the startup in tangible and intangible form.

Tangible Facilities

• A co-working space for each startup
• Separate lockers at each startup to keep their official documents
• Facility of high-speed internet
• Conference and meeting room
• Shared service desks for each startup with professionals who would provide shared services such as accounting, legal, secretarial and so on

Intangible Facilities

• Provision of a dedicated pool of mentors to get access to their experience for achieving success
• Provision of capacity enhance training for the basic financial tool, accounting and legal compliance, digital marketing, pitching and so on
• Training programs on various entrepreneurship aspects such as social entrepreneurship, management of leadership skills, understanding the consumers and foreign market penetration
• Provision of market connect via exhibition, buyer-seller meet, and visits
• Good training to promote visibility to the brand of a given product
• Direct interaction with funding sources to avail funds such as venture funds and bank loans

Eligibility Criteria for Recognition of Startups:

• Aspiring entrepreneurs and incubators are eligible to get a one-time grant of 50% of capital cost up to Rs.1 crore to set up a startup unit in Assam
• The investors providing 5000 sq. feet of carpet area for establishing unit are eligible for availing benefits
• The facilities provided by the government of Assam shall be utilized for the development of infrastructure and purchase of equipment only. Investors not following this criterion would be made ineligible from the given benefits
• 5 crore set up grant would be provided to those entrepreneurs who provide free internet facilities for all of their business

Entrepreneurs with MASI are eligible to get sustenance allowance of Rs.20,000 per month for one year and major preference would be given.
