Trademark Class 8 Razors and Hand Tools
In this blog, we aim to provide a detailed overview of Class 8 in the Trademark Classification process. Choosing the right trademark class is important for successful trademark use. Sometimes the application falls into more than one category, providing better protection. That’s why choosing the right class is so important—it reinforces the effectiveness of the Trademark Registration process.
Trademark Class 8 Overview
Class 8 primarily encompasses hand-operated tools and implements designed for various tasks like drilling, shaping, cutting, and piercing.
This class includes a variety of tools, such as hand-operated agricultural, gardening, and landscaping tools, as well as tools for carpenters, artists, and other craftspeople, like hammers, chisels, and gravers. It also covers handles for hand-operated tools, including knives and scythes. Additionally, Class 8 includes both electric and non-electric hand implements for personal grooming and body art, such as razors, hair curling implements, tattooing tools, and manicure/pedicure tools. Hand-operated pumps and table cutlery, including knives, forks, and spoons (even those made of precious metals), are also part of this class.
However, it’s essential to note exclusions in Class 8. This class does not cover machine tools driven by a motor, surgical cutlery, pumps for bicycle tires, pumps adapted for use with game balls, side arms (firearms), paper knives and shredders for office use, handles for various objects like walking sticks, umbrellas, and brooms, serving utensils, and kitchen utensils like mixing spoons, pestles, mortars, nutcrackers, and spatulas. Fencing weapons are also excluded from Class 8.
