Description

What is GST registration?

GST (Goods & Services Tax) registration is the process of enrolling your business under India’s unified indirect tax system and receiving a unique 15-digit GSTIN (GST Identification Number). Once registered, your business can legally collect GST from customers, claim input tax credit on purchases, and operate with full tax compliance across India.

The entire process is online — no physical paperwork, no office visits. Our team handles the application, document verification, and government submission on your behalf, typically delivering your GSTIN in 7–10 working days.

Who must register for GST?

Registration is mandatory if your business crosses the annual turnover threshold, or falls under certain categories regardless of turnover:

Type of supply Normal states / UTs Special category states
Goods ₹40 lakh ₹20 lakh
Services ₹20 lakh ₹10 lakh

Even below these limits, registration is compulsory for inter-state sellers, all e-commerce sellers (Amazon, Flipkart etc.), and businesses making supplies in another state — regardless of turnover.

Types of GST registration

1. Regular taxpayer
The standard registration for most businesses — manufacturers, retailers, service providers — that exceed the turnover threshold. Allows full input tax credit claims and monthly or quarterly return filing.

2. Composition scheme
A simplified option for small businesses with lower turnover. Tax is paid at a fixed rate on total turnover, filings are quarterly, and compliance is significantly reduced. Note: input tax credit cannot be claimed under this scheme.

3. Casual taxable person
For businesses that operate temporarily in a state — exhibitions, pop-up stores, trade fairs — without a permanent presence. Registration is valid for the duration of the activity and requires an advance GST deposit.

4. Non-resident taxable person
For foreign businesses supplying goods or services in India without a fixed establishment. Must register at least 5 days before commencing supply, with an estimated GST deposit.

5. Input service distributor (ISD)
For large businesses with multiple branches under the same PAN that need to distribute input tax credits across divisions. Simplifies credit allocation and reduces compliance complexity at scale.

6. E-commerce operator
Platforms that facilitate third-party sales — like marketplaces — must register as e-commerce operators and collect Tax Collected at Source (TCS) on behalf of sellers.

7. TDS / TCS deductor
Government bodies and certain notified entities required to deduct or collect tax at source must register separately under this category to ensure proper remittance and reporting.

Why GST registration matters for your business

Claim input tax credit
Every rupee of GST you pay on business purchases can be offset against your GST liability — directly reducing your overall tax outgo. This benefit is only available to registered businesses.

Sell freely across India
A GSTIN removes all inter-state trade barriers. Whether you’re supplying to a client in another state or expanding to a new market, registration keeps you compliant and unblocked.

List on Amazon, Flipkart and other platforms
All major e-commerce platforms require sellers to be GST registered before listing products. Registration is your entry ticket to India’s largest online marketplaces.

Become a recognised legal entity
Your GSTIN is an official government-issued identifier. It signals legitimacy to customers, vendors, banks, and investors — and is often required to open business accounts or bid for contracts.

Avoid penalties and legal notices
Operating above the threshold without registration invites heavy penalties and potential legal action. Registering proactively keeps you on the right side of the law.

Build credibility and trust
Customers and B2B buyers increasingly prefer GST-registered suppliers — it makes invoicing cleaner, allows them to claim input credit, and signals a professionally run operation.
